LOGO DESIGN

The Knowledge Is Power Learning Communities are a collaboration between three programs at Mt. San Antonio College comprising of ASPIRE (African American), ARISE (Asian American and Pacific Islander), and El Centro (Latinx). The purpose of the department is to create a larger ethnic studies community that would bring all of the different ethnic groups together.

The KPLC department was in need of branding that clearly represents their shared interest and cross cultural intersection, so with their brand tone and messaging in mind I presented these two logo options.

CONCEPT NO. 01

This concept is a unification of a fingerprint and simplified figures. The fingerprint symbolizes identity: everybody is born with their own unique print and although no two are the same, there are lots of similarities from person to person. The small circular breaks in the fingerprint are simplified heads and bodies, they come together to form the fingerprint. Like the logo concept, KPLC is formed of people and communities with different backgrounds and experiences, coming together to form a united group.

CONCEPT NO. 02

This concept is a combination of a fingerprint and hand. The fingerprint symbolizes identity like previously mentioned, fused together with the hand. Historically, hands are representative of many things. In this case, the hand symbolizes humanity and unity.
